Leadership Practices Inventory

L.E.A.D. - Leadership Exploration and Development

As you begin the L.E.A.D. leadership development journey, this assessment is intended to help you pause and take an objective look at how you currently practice leadership. The Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) focuses on specific leadership behaviors and the frequency with which you demonstrate them in your day-to-day role. Your responses will help you understand the leadership practices that come naturally to you today, as well as those that may need greater attention as you progress through the L.E.A.D. journey.

Respond to your current reality.
For every statement, think about how you actually behave today, based on your regular experience in your current role. Do not answer based on how you believe a leader should behave, how you would like to behave, or how you hope to behave in the future.

Rate frequency, not importance.
Each statement describes a leadership behavior. Your task is not to decide whether the behavior is important or whether you agree with it.

Think about your typical behavior.
Base your response on what you generally do, rather than on one exceptional incident or a particularly good or difficult day.

Be honest with yourself.
There are no right or wrong answers. The usefulness of the assessment depends on how accurately it reflects your present leadership behavior. This assessment is for your self relfection and will kept completely confidential. The report will be shared with you.

Avoid overthinking each statement.
Read the statement, reflect briefly on your experience, and select the response that feels most representative. Your first considered response is usually more useful than trying to work out what the “best” answer might be.

Respond independently.
This is a self-reflection exercise. Please complete it based on your own assessment rather than discussing individual responses with colleagues.

Answer every statement.
Please select the response that best reflects your experience, even if you occasionally find yourself between two options.

Time Required
The assessment contains 30 statements and should take approximately 10-12 minutes to complete. Preferably, complete it in one sitting.
